Remembering Cynthia Blackwell nee Lane
This site is a tribute to Cynthia Rosemary Blackwell nee Lane, who left us at Christmas 2020. Loving wife of the late Roy, devoted mum to Steven and Susan, proud nanna of Curtis and Daisy.
Registering the death of our mum, the registrar wanted to know her occupation - suggesting a 'homemaker', as that's what a woman of her generation would 'aspire to'. But we thought not. Mum was a brilliant 'homemaker' - we couldn't have had a better, more loving and secure childhood, and when dad was ill for the last 10-15 years of his life she dedicated herself to caring for him. Mum though was much more, a career before marriage and then throwing herself into voluntary work once we had grown up.
